You know how when you’re on a plane and there’s that empty seat next to you, that you pray that no one is sitting in but then you hear the flight attendant say “this is a full flight”? Well that’s what was happening to Brittney and I when we were on our way to California for our honeymoon, we watched every person come on the plane and whispered to ourselves “I hope it’s him, he looks quite” and “omg not her, she has way to much stuff”, then we saw a girl get on the plane, she had short blonde hair under her tied up handkerchief, wearing a bright colored dress and a yellow scarf. Brittney said “I hope it’s her, she seems sweet” and right as she said that the girl looks up and smiles at us from the front of the plane, she walks closer and closer reading all the seat numbers until she finally gets to the empty seat next to us and sits down with a smile. After a few minutes we were in the air, the intercom came on and said “approved electronics can now be used” so I pull out my laptop and begin to edit. About 30 minutes pass without a single word from the stranger next to us, then out of nowhere she leans over and says “I’m guessing you’re a photographer huh?”, I look up from the computer “yes, haha, how did you guess?”. The three of us begin to small talk, she told us her name, “Cherie”, which was weird to me because that’s my mom’s name and she pronounced and spelled it exactly the same. I look down in her lap and see that this whole time she has been reading the Bible. I say “so I’m guessing you’re a Christian” she looks up from her page “yes, haha, how did you guess”. The intercom came on again “Please prepare for landing…” I start to close my computer, grab a business card and hand it to her and say “well if you’re ever in Louisiana, give us and call and we can all go out to dinner or something. Oh, and look us up on Facebook and friend us, so we can stay in touch!” She smiled and looked forward. I start to shove my computer into a bag and try not to spill the left over ice from my drink and I hear Cherie say “Hunter and Brittney, can I tell you something?” We both look up, “sure”. She closes her Bible, “I really feel like God wants me to tell you two that right now your business is just a little spark but in 6 months your business is going to be a wildfire, you’re going to look back and won’t believe what all the Lord has done for you”. We just stared; she smiled “I hope I’m not freaking yall out”. We both smiled back “No that’s exactly what I needed to hear”. The plane the landed and Cherie got up and walked away, we haven’t heard from her since.
As time passed, I began to forget about that stranger we met on the plane to our honeymoon. I get an email months later congratulating me on being published in “Weddings Unveiled Magazine” and that it was going to be released on July 1. I ran into the living room to tell Brittney and the first thing that came out of her mouth was “Oh that’s weird, that’s on our 6 month anniversary”. Right as she said that, Cherie’s words popped in my head and I realized that exactly 6 months ago I was being told on an airplane by a complete stranger that in 6 months something was going to happen to my business that was going to be huge.
This is what she was referring to.
