You know how when you’re on a plane and there’s that empty seat next to you, that you pray that no one is sitting in but then you hear the flight attendant say “this is a full flight”? Well that’s what was happening to Brittney and I when we were on our way to California for our honeymoon, we watched every person come on the plane and whispered to ourselves “I hope it’s him, he looks quite” and “omg not her, she has way to much stuff”, then we saw a girl get on the plane, she had short blonde hair under her tied up handkerchief, wearing a bright colored dress and a yellow scarf. Brittney said “I hope it’s her, she seems sweet” and right as she said that the girl looks up and smiles at us from the front of the plane, she walks closer and closer reading all the seat numbers until she finally gets to the empty seat next to us and sits down with a smile. After a few minutes we were in the air, the intercom came on and said “approved electronics can now be used” so I pull out my laptop and begin to edit. About 30 minutes pass without a single word from the stranger next to us, then out of nowhere she leans over and says “I’m guessing you’re a photographer huh?”, I look up from the computer “yes, haha, how did you guess?”. The three of us begin to small talk, she told us her name, “Cherie”, which was weird to me because that’s my mom’s name and she pronounced and spelled it exactly the same. I look down in her lap and see that this whole time she has been reading the Bible. I say “so I’m guessing you’re a Christian” she looks up from her page “yes, haha, how did you guess”. The intercom came on again “Please prepare for landing…” I start to close my computer, grab a business card and hand it to her and say “well if you’re ever in Louisiana, give us and call and we can all go out to dinner or something. Oh, and look us up on Facebook and friend us, so we can stay in touch!” She smiled and looked forward. I start to shove my computer into a bag and try not to spill the left over ice from my drink and I hear Cherie say “Hunter and Brittney, can I tell you something?” We both look up, “sure”. She closes her Bible, “I really feel like God wants me to tell you two that right now your business is just a little spark but in 6 months your business is going to be a wildfire, you’re going to look back and won’t believe what all the Lord has done for you”. We just stared; she smiled “I hope I’m not freaking yall out”. We both smiled back “No that’s exactly what I needed to hear”. The plane the landed and Cherie got up and walked away, we haven’t heard from her since.

As time passed, I began to forget about that stranger we met on the plane to our honeymoon. I get an email months later congratulating me on being published in “Weddings Unveiled Magazine” and that it was going to be released on July 1. I ran into the living room to tell Brittney and the first thing that came out of her mouth was “Oh that’s weird, that’s on our 6 month anniversary”. Right as she said that, Cherie’s words popped in my head and I realized that exactly 6 months ago I was being told on an airplane by a complete stranger that in 6 months something was going to happen to my business that was going to be huge.

This is what she was referring to.

Congratulations! What an amazing story! The fact that you remembered that little moment that helped lift your confidence and spirit that day, is just an indicator that the LORD is in your heart. Most people that have success tend to forget about those little moments and messages that HE sends our way to let us know we are on the right path. It’s sooo refreshing to see that no matter how much success you gain or how busy your schedule is, you still keep HIM close. To tie this story along with such a GREAT achievement, is just another way to say “Thank you” to GOD and his messenger. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for you both in the future. Erica McNair - July 6, 2011 - 8:10 pm

I cannot tell you how much I admire your love of the Lord and how unashamed you are to share about the awesome ways he works. I came across your blog in the midst of wedding planning as I was trying to find out if suspenders looked good. :-)

Your work is beautiful and I hope one day that my husband and I have the opportunity to capture images and edit with the skill and passion you do!

May God’s blessings continue to pour out on you and your wife!!

Your work is simply breath taking. I am just starting in photography and I felt stuck and I became not so happy with my work, Event though I have only done a couple shoots. Your work inspired me to pursue my love for vintage and to incorporate that into my photos. Truly awesome, I am so glad I have a christian photographer to look up to.

You two have blessed me beyond words! I’m a photographer, working on my own in a little town in Northwest Washington. I’ve only been doing this for a few months. It’s exciting, overwhelming, blessed and at times a battle to decide to move forward. The Lord is so good. Those are the only words I can seem to muster lately. He has left me on my knees in tears of joy at his sweetness and grace in my life. What sweet salvation we have in the Lord. I was drawn to your work because it speaks such truth and pure beauty. Something that only the Lord can gift a person with. I admire your work but even more so, I admire your boldness to speak the truth and power of the Lord’s moving in your lives. If I could only come to Louisiana and sip on some tea and hear this story in person, to chat, pray and reminisce of the Greatness of our Lord.

Be blessed my friends. Be very blessed.

I love everything about your work. I first saw you in this magazine, and fell in love immediately.

Then I read this on your blog. It brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful Papa we serve.

My husband and I have been wedding photographers out of the Asheville, NC area for 3 years now. I have seen Papa’s hand in our business thus far. Your words above brought life to me as I am reminded Who holds our future in everything that we do.

Be blessed!

A actually fascinating read, I could nicely not agree completely, but you do make some quite legitimate factors.
